It took just three years to build RMS Titanic and it took only less than three hours to sink the ship beneath the North Atlantic Ocean on April 14, 1912.
 
Why Titanic was build ?

In Actual, competition created the Titanic. In 1907, Cunard launched the two fastest passenger ships, the Mauritania and the Lusitania. In his competition, the White Star Line’s Chairman, J. Bruce Ismay, wanted to top Cunard, and he decided to do so not on speed but on size and luxury too.

Where was Titanic Built ?

The Titanic was built in Belfast, north Ireland, and Titanic took 15,000 workers, around 3,000 labor and nearly 250 workers injured and two workers died during construction.

Titanic’s length was 269.06m (882 feet & 9 inches) and its width was 28.19m (92 feet & 6 inches). Its total height was 32m (109 feet). Its measured weight was 46,328 tons. Titanic is provided with “Triple Screw” – 3 propellers. The two outer propellers had a diameter of 17 feet.


Titanic is supplied with four-cylinder steam reciprocating engines and one low pressure turbine engine. Titanic RMS speed was 21kn (39km/h) and max speed was 24kn (44km/h).

Lavish Facilities for First Class Passenger

As Third Class passengers were not treated as luxuriously as those in First Class but leisure facilities were provided for all the three classes to pass their time. The ship is provided with a indoor amenities such as the library, smoking rooms and gymnasium etc. Although most passengers had to share their bathrooms but there were only two bathrooms for third class which include more than 700 passengers.


One of the Titanic’s unique characteristic was its First Class staircase known as grand staircase which provides access between Boat Deck and D Deck.

The most interesting thing was Titanic had its own newspaper. The Atlantic Daily Bulletin was printed everyday on board the titanic. The newspaper had everything in it which includes news, advertisements, society gossip, horse racing results, stock prices and day’s menu. 

Amazing Unknown Facts

Did you know most of the saving lifeboats that were sent from Titanic were not filled to capacity. Lifeboat 1 carries less than 15 passengers which having capacity for 40 and lifeboat 7 carried 24 people, despite having capacity of 65.


In spite, there were not enough life boats for passengers but it was bit surprising that two dogs were rescued.

Bombay Velvet’s most interesting aspects are its evocative visual texture and its lush and layered sound design. 

This movie is based on Gyan Prakash’s book Mumbai Fables, Bombay Velvet is all about those days when a newly independent India was struggling to find its feet.

Johnny Balraj (Ranbir Kapoor), a bare knuckle boxer who wants to be a big shot. Further he meets with a crooked businessman called Kaizad Khambata (Karan Johar), and then Johnny start working for Kaizad. His life is further complicated by the arrival of Jazz Singer Rosie Noronha (Anushka Sharma), with whom Johnny fell in love. There’s more way a plot, but Bombay Velvet lacks enthusiasm. 

Bombay Velvet looks gold from outside, but inside is not a polished plot. If you are a true Anurag Kashyap’s fan, you’ll be little disappointed but the overall film is a worth a watch.
