Sam Smith won the Grammy Award 2015 on Sunday for his song "Stay with me". He is the top winner and also won for new artist, song of the year and pop vocal album. He also won Grammy Award for his album of the year for "Morning Phase," which also won for rock album.
Beck won for “Morning Phase. It was a classic Grammy surprise, as the awards’ voters chose a modest-selling but critically admired album in a rock context over bigger pop hits. Besides album of the year, “Morning Phase” took best rock album, beating releases by U2, Ryan Adams, Tom Petty and the Black Keys.
Pharrell Williams took home three prizes: “Happy” won best music video and, in a live version, best pop solo performance, while his “G I R L” won best urban contemporary album.
Beyoncé, who like Mr. Smith won six awards, also won three: best R&B performance and R&B song, for “Drunk in Love,” and best surround sound album, for “Beyoncé.” She thanked God and her husband who was also there on the track.
Miranda Lambert got the prize for best country album, for “Platinum” and thanked her record label and all the people who were the fans. Ms Lambert also won award for her album i.e. Glen Campbell. With the rocking performance, Jack White took best performance for his album “Lazaretto”.
Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga sang “Cheek to Cheek,” an 80-year-old song by Irving Berlin; their album by the title also won best traditional pop vocal album. Beyoncé sang the gospel hymn “Precious Lord, Take My Hand,” dressed in diaphanous white and surrounded by a company with outstretched hands.
New songs, colorful scenes enhanced the eye-catching performance of personalities. The Grammy awards are given for performances from Oct. 1, 2013, to Sept. 30, 2014, and voted on by thousands of members of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
