India has submitted bollywood movies for Oscar award. The Film Federation of India (FFI) delegates an advisory group to pick one film among those discharged that year to be submitted as India's authority section to the Academy for a designation for "Best Foreign Language Film" the accompanying year.[4] The picked movies, alongside their English subtitles, are sent to the Academy, where they are screened for the jury. India has sent more than forty movies to the opposition. The greater part of India's entries were in Hindi. Consistently around 1500 Indian films make it to the extra large screen, which is 50% of the total movies pictures created as far and wide as possible. Anyway till date none of the Indian movies have figured out how to bring home the prestigious "Oscar" statuette.
Here is the list of Oscar nominated movies:
Mother Indian
The Creation of Woman
An Encounter with faces
Gandhi
A Room with a View
Salam Bombay
Life of Pi
Parinda
Lagaan
Slumdog Millionaire
The first oscar award nominee is for Mother India, 1957. Thus movie is all about rural life and a woman who stands in support for villagers. She goes against her own violent son. This was the most expensive Indian movie.A lot of appreciation has offered to this movie. This is one of the great Indian movies which make Indian audience as well as western jury pleased.
Discussing the Indians who have won this regarded grant, there are just 5 Indians who have won the Oscars – Bhanu Athaiya (Best Costume Design – Gandhi, 1983); Satyajit Ray (Honorary Award, 1992); Gulzar (Best Original Song – Slumdog Millionaire, 2008); A.R. Rahman (Best Original Score/ Best Original Song – Slumdog Millionaire, 2008) and Resul Pookutty (Best Sound Mixing – Slumdog Millionaire.
Commending its Centennial Year, 2013 has been a decent year for Indian Cinema. Against the current line of films, some splendid movies like Kai Po Che, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Lucia (Kannada) made it to the huge screens, catching the consideration of the groups of onlookers and the pundits. What's more, everybody who has viewed these motion pictures feel that it will do great to India to send 'The Lunchbox' at its authority section for the outside dialect Oscar race. 'Boat of Theseus' is the closest opponent, which is shot flawlessly yet experiences a temperamental story portrayal falling just behind The Lunchbox's naturally beguiling Indian story with a general appeal.
