Margarita, With A Straw had its UK debut in London's Leicester Square on Friday at the BFI London Film Festival.
Having won best Asian Film at the Toronto International Film Festival a month ago, desires were high. The film stars Kalki Koechlin (destined to French folks and best known for her parts in Dev D, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani) and composed and coordinated by Shonali Bose who is known for her discriminatingly acclaimed and honor winning film Amu (2005) which investigates the stifled history of the 1984 Sikh genocide. Co-composed and coordinated by Nilesh Maniyar.
In Margarita with a Straw, writer Shonali Bose and performing artist Kalki Koechlin issue us a lady we have never seen in our silver screen previously. The magnificence is that Shonali makes a uniquely remarkable character and afterward makes us appreciate her for more than simply her uniqueness.
The film starts with Shubhangini ( Played by the brilliant Revathy) driving a Matador van and you are instantly reminded of the brilliant Little miss sunshine and why not, this film is about our own miss sunshine, Laila (played by Kalki Koechlin) who is embarking on her journey.
Laila, played by Kalki, is a Delhi University understudy, who was conceived with cerebral paralysis. She moves around in a wheel-seat and can't go to the restroom without support. Anyway that doesn't prevent her from snickering and adoring wildly. In our films, the sexuality of physically fit ladies is a startling thought, so envision the stun you get when masturbates, watches porn, transparently desires and experiments with men and a lady.
Along these lines, next shock the movie have for you is when Laila finds her lesbian affection. The motion picture has gotten away through the scissors without missing a lot of its delicate scenes. The motion picture has teased Indian culture for its lack of care towards in an unexpected way, particularly by contrasting it and the situation at New York, where they are just seen like ordinary individuals.
